Challenge ➢ Process consistency despite fluctuations in raw materials

In chemical processes, the properties of raw materials often fluctuate: the bulk density and flow behavior of powders, as well as the density, viscosity, temperature, and reactivity of liquids and pastes, can have a significant impact on the dosing process. In practice, this leads to unstable feed rates, dosing deviations, and increased control requirements—especially in continuous applications where deviations immediately affect the process.
In addition, different discharge devices (e.g., screws, vibrating chutes, conveyors, or pumps) must interact reliably to ensure process stability. Depending on the product, product activation may also be necessary to ensure a stable material flow.

The DEMIC Solution
The DE-CON/U controllers are specifically designed for gravimetric dosing systems based on the “loss-in-weight” principle; they perform control and weighing functions and also manage the refilling process. In doing so, they automatically account for various discharge devices and product activation methods to continuously achieve optimal dosing results.
For bulk materials and powders, the DE-CONscrew dosing controller can also be used: It supports both gravimetric and volumetric operation of differential scales, operates adaptively, and can control additional components for product activation and dust prevention (e.g., filters/exhaust systems).
Challenge ➢ Precise addition of additives and reactants

Many chemical products are produced using precisely defined mixing ratios: Additives, catalysts, stabilizers, pigments, or functional substances often need to be introduced into a main stream in small quantities—either continuously or in batches. Even minimal deviations can affect yield, specifications, the reaction process, or the reproducibility of batches.
Especially with very small dosing quantities, the demands on repeatability and control increase. In such cases, not only is the dosing technology crucial, but also a control system that reliably filters out disturbances and dynamically stabilizes the dosing.

THE DEMIC SOLUTION
Gravimetric dosing measures the actual mass regardless of material density and flow properties, making it particularly precise—a key advantage over volumetric methods when accuracy and reproducibility are critical.
Microdosing plays an important role for very small quantities—especially in the chemical industry. The goal is to dose extremely small volumes of liquids or powders with high accuracy and repeatability.
In addition, DEMIC control solutions support the dosing of pastes and liquids, take density, viscosity, temperature, and reaction behavior into account, and can control various pump types as well as trace heating systems; weighing of the entire dosing system is included as standard.
Solutions: Intelligent Dosing and Control Technology for Stable Chemical Processes
Precisely coordinated dosing, weighing, and control systems are essential for the reliable processing of bulk materials, powders, pastes, and liquids. DEMIC offers control solutions designed for various discharge devices that reliably regulate the dosing process, including refill phases.
Gravimetric dosing combined with intelligent control technology forms the foundation for robust processes: The actual mass flow is continuously monitored, and deviations are actively compensated—ensuring stable process windows, reproducible quality, and more efficient operations in both continuous and batch applications.
