The DE-CONverter PLC is a versatile communication converter designed to provide both modern and traditional interfaces in automation systems. It enables additional PLC interfaces for the DE‑COP 7 multi and DE‑COP 15 operator terminals, whilst also supporting the integration of serial fieldbus and communication systems. This makes the device suitable for both new machine designs and retrofit scenarios, where existing components are to be reused but connected to the latest industrial protocols.

The variants

The DE-Converter PLC acts as a flexible communication bridge between traditional and modern automation standards. It ensures that older machines and components can continue to operate reliably, whilst data is made available in parallel using modern industrial protocols.

The Lite version is specifically designed to ensure full compatibility with existing systems. It serves as a direct 1:1 replacement for older operator terminals and can be used without any modifications to the machine or control architecture.

Die Basic‑Variante ermöglicht die Integration serieller Feldbus‑ oder Kommunikationssysteme in moderne, Ethernet‑basierte übergeordnete Steuerungsarchitekturen. Damit können Maschinen, Module oder Steuerungen, die weiterhin über RS232/RS485 oder andere serielle Feldbusse arbeiten, ohne Änderungen an der Alttechnik in aktuelle Netzwerk‑ oder Automatisierungsstrukturen eingebunden werden.

The Advanced version extends the functionality of the Basic model with a fully integrated web server, which enables convenient, browser-based configuration and monitoring. This makes this model particularly suitable for applications where flexible customisation, rapid parameterisation or reduced hardware requirements are key priorities.

The integrated web server provides a central user interface through which all communication assignments, data points and device settings can be configured without the need for additional software. This makes the following tasks particularly straightforward:

  • Commissioning and initial configuration
  • Service calls with rapid diagnostics
  • Remote access, provided network access is authorised
  • Monitoring and visualisation without a separate operator terminal (e.g. DE-COP)
     

As a result, the Advanced variant can partially or completely replace a conventional operator terminal in many scenarios – particularly in compact control solutions or modular machines where space, cabling or hardware costs need to be reduced.
